In December 1772 — nearly two years before the Suffolk Resolves — Pembroke’s Town Meeting put its objections to the Crown in writing. We’re the Republicans of that town: recruiting, promoting, and electing leaders who defend the values that built it, for the families and future of Pembroke.
Self-government started early here. We’re fighting to keep Pembroke a place where the people — not the bureaucracy — still decide.

Our members come from every walk of life — varied careers, backgrounds, and ages — united in our commitment to the Constitution and to electing Republican candidates for local, county, state, and national office. Gad Hitchcock, pastor in Pembroke, preaching the Massachusetts election sermon on May 25, 1774 — to the face of Royal Governor Thomas Gage, twelve days after Gage arrived to impose the Coercive Acts. Pembroke had already put its objections in writing: on December 28, 1772 the Town Meeting elected a Committee of Correspondence and adopted the Pembroke Resolves, warning that Britain’s course would end in the total dissolution of the union between the mother country and the colonies — almost two years before the Suffolk Resolves. Self-government started early here — and we still hold that power belongs to the people.
